This litany was sent to us by Mary Anne Isaak from College Community Church, Clovis, CA. They used this litany to bless their student and mentor for the 2008/09 MQ program. Mary Anne has granted us permission to share this piece with you. Please adapt is to suit your local context.
Litany of Celebration
Discerning God’s Call
Leader: [Student’s name], we have watched you grow and we see within you a love for Jesus, a desire to serve God, and a potential for leadership. We walk with you in your Quest to explore and discern your giftedness, your leadership, and your calling.
People: [Student’s name], we, your church, join with God in calling you to ministry in God’s kingdom. We support your decision to dedicate time and conversation to deepening your relationship with Jesus. We bless you to ask questions and discover language that help you process what it means to be a leader. May you find joy and guidance as you listen to the voice of God in your life.
L: [Mentor’s name], we are grateful for your willingness to enter into this Ministry Quest mentoring relationship with [student’s name], studying Scripture together, opening yourselves to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit and being accountable to one another.
P: [Mentor’s name], we offer you our blessings and prayers in your role as mentor. May you find joy and guidance as you listen with student’s name to the voice of God in her life.
