Children on Campus

While MB Biblical Seminary is primarily a graduate school with program and facilities designed for adults, we also recognize the fact that students occasionally bring their children to campus and we offer childcare for some special events. The school’s policy is to prevent instances where children may be unsupervised and cause damage to property. Our concern is both for children’s safety and good stewardship of facilities.

  1. All children under 13 years of age on campus must be under the supervision of an adult.
  2. Rollerblades, skateboards, and bicycles are to be used only outside of the buildings and not on walkways or ramps.
  3. Children are to use recreational equipment only under the supervision of an adult. Student Leadership Team rules regarding the use of recreational equipment are also to be observed.
  4. Any groups offering child care for group events are to use the following guidelines in providing childcare:
  • Rooms to be used for childcare must be booked with Administration Building receptionist.
  • Adult staff must be present in the facilities as long as there are children present.
  • The caregiver to children ratio for preschoolers is to be no less than 1:8, for gradeschoolers, 1:15. At least one of the caregivers must be over 18 years of age and all staff must be over 12 years of age.
  • Rooms and equipment are to be readied for children’s use. For example, pool table and pingpong equipment is to be secured in the storage room, and the pool table and foosball table are to be covered.
  • Children are not to run free outside without adult supervision.

Our general view regarding care for our children and facilities is that any adult observing a child needing guidance is asked to provide that guidance. Our hope is that we will be able to work within these guidelines to provide a safe and durable learning environment. Should problems arise in the case of a particular child, counsel will initially be pursued with the parents. Should there be no change, the student’s access to the campus center will be restricted.
