General Safety and Security Information

Fresno is an urban center and, therefore, we ask people to take those precautions they would take in any larger urban area: lock your homes and vehicles, do not walk unaccompanied after dark, and do not carry more cash or credit cards than necessary.

The campus is monitored by a video surveillance system that is staffed 24 hours a day and patrolled by FPU security patrol and MBBS security staff at irregular times throughout the day. The security staff do not intervene in acts of violence, nor do they pursue and arrest offenders. The principle task is to secure MBBS facilities, be alert to situations that arouse suspicion, and notify proper authorities in case of needed assistance.

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to report actions of a criminal nature or other emergencies occurring on campus by taking the following steps:

Security is notified of events taking place on campus after hours, and is available to do a security check at the time the event concludes. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to assist security personnel by re-locking any doors and windows that have been opened after hours. This also pertains to the pedestrian gates on the perimeters of the campus.

Pedestrian gates on Garden Avenue and Butler Avenue are locked at the end of the workday. The Butler Avenue vehicle gate is locked at 10:00 p.m., and the front door of the Prayer Chapel is locked at 5:00 p.m.

It is recommended that you do not walk across campus alone after dark. Go in a group, or ask for an escort through FPU security. Phone numbers and a phone are posted between the Library and the Prayer Chapel.

MB Biblical Seminary does not have a campus law enforcement officer. The only area in which the Seminary delegates enforcement is in the area of parking. The Facilities and Grounds Manager is empowered to ticket and, if necessary, request towing of any vehicles not displaying an MB Biblical Seminary campus parking permit.

Night lighting is provided throughout the campus, both in the parking lot and along walkways. If you have recommendations for lighting, we will be glad to consider them.

We encourage all to be aware of safe practices and habits that help keep us safe. We are fortunate in not having experienced any serious crime on campus, and we want this to continue.
