MA in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling student
Megan was avoiding finishing her graduate degree at a Christian institution. She was nervous that it would not be as respected, and would keep her out of a career in the secular community. But spending time with a missions agency gave Megan cause to re-prioritize her life. “I realized that if being a Christian is who I am and what I believe, then I should be pursuing that. Being in Brazil forced me to look at myself and how I was living and forced me to realize what my priorities are.”
Soon after that, doors began to open that allowed Megan to become a student at MB Biblical Seminary. Seminary has been a great choice for Megan. “Seminary has fostered in me a desire to be authentic in a way I’ve never experienced before. It makes me see that I can serve as I am. I am accepted, and there’s something unique about that.”
Megan is volunteering as a chaplain at Fresno Community Hospital and has discovered that her experience of being accepted at the seminary allows her to extend that understanding to others. “I can sit in silence with people and don’t have to have all the answers.” MB Biblical Seminary has been integral in Megan’s understanding of healthy community and she says, “No community is perfect, yet this place is safe and cares for me while I wrestle with things.”
