Returning Student Scholarships

The following scholarships are available to students who have completed the number of units in the criteria of each scholarship.

Students who wish to apply for scholarships must file the formal application MB Biblical Seminary-Fresno Financial Aid Application
with the Financial Aid office each academic year. Registration materials must also be submitted by May 1st for the Fall semester and Dec 15th for the Spring semester in order to receive any of these scholarships. DON’T DELAY YOUR REGISTRATION AS IT COULD COST YOU THOUSANDS.

These scholarships are applied to the student’s account at the beginning of each semester over 2 semesters. Criteria must be maintained for 2 semesters in order to receive 100% of funds.

Award Amount Criteria
A.P. and Susan Balzer Scholarship 2 at $1,000
  • Membership in MB church for at least 1 year
  • Completed at least 12 units
  • Maintain at least 3.0 GPA
  • MA or Mdiv program with emphasis in pastoral leadership
  • Must be enrolled in at least 9 units
B. J. and Linda Braun Scholarship $1,000
  • Membership in MB church for at least 1 year
  • Completed at least 12 units
  • Maintain at least 3.0 GPA
  • MA or Mdiv program with emphasis in missions
  • Must be enrolled in at least 9 units
Franz Scholarship 2 at $1,000
  • Preference given to Franz family members. When no family members are attending MBBS, the scholarship is awarded based on need and the following:
  • Membership in MB church for at least 1 year
  • Enrolled in at least 9 units
  • Maintain at least 2.5 GPA
Goossen Family Scholarship 3 at $1,000
  • Membership in MB church for at least 1 year
  • Admitted to MA or Mdiv program
  • Maintain at least 3.0 GPA
  • Completed at least 12 units
  • Must be enrolled in at least 9 units
International Student Scholarship-2nd year 4 at $1,000 or 2 at $2,000
  • International Student
  • Completed at least 24 units
  • Must be admitted to a degree program
  • Enrolled in at least 9 units
J.D. Friesen Scholarship 3 at $250
  • Canadian MB Student at ACTS, Fresno, or Winnipeg
  • Part-time working in a church
  • Enrolled in at least 6 units
J.J. Toews Scholarship 2 at $500
  • Must be admitted to a degree program
  • Enrolled in at least 6 units
  • Completed at least 12 units
Other Need-based Scholarships 20 at $1,000
  • Must show financial need
  • Admitted to MA or Mdiv program
  • Completed at least 12 units
  • Enrolled in at least 9 units
  • Maintain at least 2.5 GPA
  • Must not have received any other scholarships or tuition waivers.
P.E.J. Harder Scholarship $250
  • Student working in church full or part-time in area of worship
  • Enrolled in at least 6 units
  • Must be admitted to a degree program
Regier-Martens Scholarship $1,000 plus interest
  • The award shall be given to a Mennonite Brethren student studying full-time (9 units) at MBBS in the United States.
  • Entering or returning student is eligible.
  • Pursuing an MA or M.Div degree in pastoral ministry and/or missions.
  • Completed 15 units.
  • Maintains a minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Contribution to seminary life
  • Promise of ministry effectiveness after graduation
  • Demonstrates financial need
Sam Willems Scholarship 3 at $1,000
  • Preference given to Canadian MB students from Saskatchewan or family members
  • Member of an MB church for at least 1 year
  • Admitted to MA or Mdiv program
  • Completed at least 12 units
  • Enrolled in at least 9 units
Schellenberg Scholarship 3 at $1,000
  • Membership in MB church for at least 1 year
  • Completed at least 12 units
  • Maintain at least 2.5 GPA
  • Enrolled in at least 9 units
  • Admitted to a degree program
