Advanced Biblical Preaching

This course develops a preaching methodology that encourage students to take the literary characteristics of biblical texts into consideration when moving from text to sermon. Then it invites the student to apply the methodology to their preaching of the prophets, Psalms, Proverbs, narratives, parables, Gospels, and epistles. In addition, students explore the biblical and historical foundations for preaching and developing a theology of preaching that is designed to sustain their future praxis. Finally, students gain experience in preaching by preparing and delivering in-class sermons that are videotaped, evaluated by peers, and individually assessed by the instructor.
