Research Interests
Currently undertaking research projects in the following areas:
1. The Missional ApNet: How do missionally engaged congregations who take seriously a theology of place work together in a complementary and collaborative manner, rather than competitively and unnecessarily duplicating one another's efforts within that place?
2. Gang Theology: I am bringing the sociological literature on gangs and Christian theology into conversation with one another to see what sort of new insights can be gained into God's purposes in the lives of gang members. Currently, I am conducting site interviews with former gang members and ministry leaders who are invested in working with gang members here in the Central Valley.
3. The Role of the Urban Congregation in Anxious Times: Employing the work of Edwin Friedman, I am exploring the church's calling in urban contexts plagued by chronic anxiety.
